Running for a Cause: Ruden Bhutia's Marathon Triumph for SeeNepal
At SeeNepal Foundation, we are continuously inspired by the passion and dedication of individuals who go above and beyond to support our cause. One such individual is Ruden Bhutia, Founder of running community Runderbolts whose remarkable feat of running not one, not two, but three consecutive London marathons in April 2023 left us in awe.
A Triple Marathon Challenge for SeeNepal
Ruden's commitment to SeeNepal's mission led him to embark on an extraordinary challenge: running the London Marathon three times back-to-back. Yes, you read that right - 42 kilometers times 3, summing up to an astounding 126 kilometers in total! His journey commenced the night before at the start line in Greenwich, where he ran the familiar route to the Mall for the first marathon. Without a moment's pause, he turned around, running the same route in reverse back to Greenwich for the second marathon. Finally, in true marathon spirit, he joined his fellow Runderbolts crew to complete the official London Marathon with a third run, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to SeeNepal's cause by completing this momentous feat.
A Journey with Purpose
This ambitious challenge held a deeper meaning for Ruden, as he aimed to fulfill multiple objectives close to his heart:
1. Raising Funds and Awareness: Ruden's determination to run three consecutive marathons was fueled by his desire to raise funds and awareness for SeeNepal Foundation. His unwavering commitment to our cause has resulted in an impressive £4100+ raised, and the support continues to grow.
2. Advocating for Inclusivity in Running: Through his incredible journey, Ruden also aimed to raise awareness about the need for a more inclusive and diverse running industry. He did just that as history was made, as the Runderbolts crew, alongside other Nepalese runners from various communities including Nepal Run and Hamro Run Club, ensured that the most Nepalese runners ever completed the marathon, the biggest representation of Nepal in a London Marathon, marking a historic moment of unity and inclusivity.
3. Honoring his Father's Legacy: In a touching tribute, Ruden dedicated his feat to the memory of his late father, who passed away in July 2021. He chose to continue in his father's footsteps, serving the community and helping others through his inspiring efforts.
Celebrating Ruden's Triumph
Ruden's extraordinary endeavor did not go unnoticed, and he was even interviewed by BBC Sport during the London Marathon. We, along with the entire SeeNepal community, are immensely proud of his achievement. Not only has he raised well over £4,000 for SeeNepal Foundation, but he has also created a lasting impact by running in memory of his father, inspiring many more to take up running, and advocating for a more inclusive running industry.
